Stretch Marks During Pregnancy - Prevent or Treat the Pregnancy
Stretch Marks
No one wants to have them, but many have them.
What are stretch marks or pregnancy strips?
Stretch marks (medically known as striae cutis distensae) are created in the subcutaneous tissue
(hypodermis) and are ugly and visible symptoms. They are formed by the strong expansion of the tissue and
predominantly in women and men with a weak connective tissue. Stretch marks (also medically known as striae
gravidarum) can naturally arise only during pregnancy and they are physiological.
What causes stretch marks or pregnancy strips?
They
usually prefer the most visible areas or the heavily polluted areas of tissue, such as the upper arms,
breasts, abdomen, hips, buttocks and thighs.
Stretch marks can be caused by significant weight gain, constant slimming, by too much
exercising for women and by too much body building by men who want to increase the size of their breasts and their
muscles. Women should wear a good bra when they do sports, so that they discourage the appearance of stretch marks.
Stretch marks can also result from diseases or occur as a side effect of medications (e.g. cortisone). However,
stretch marks often occur due to rapid growth.
Again, the skin's elasticity is greatly reduced during pregnancy due to hormonal influences,
this leading to stretch marks. Freshly baked mothers often suffer greatly from the scars of childbirth because they
remain visible.
Stretch marks and the connective tissue
The connective tissue is responsible for the elasticity of our skin and consists of highly
cross-linked collagen fibers. Tears in the subcutaneous tissue occur when the connective tissue stretches too much,
tears which are red to bluish and then purple stripes appear. They can fade in the course of our lives, but a light
scar remains visible for a lifetime. There are different forms of stretch marks prevention during pregnancy that we
can opt for if we want to get rid of our pregnancy stretch marks, but not all of them offer the results we want.
Therefore, you should not opt for anything without consulting your dermatologist.
Course of treatment with the IPL "Green Lights" flash of light therapy
The principle of this method is the selective photothermolysis of the intense pulsed IPL -
"Green Light" flashes of light which ensure pigmentation of the tissue tears. The discolored tears absorb more
flash power than the surrounding tissue causing the skin to stimulate the regeneration of the torn tissue. The
treated stretch marks obtained have a "normal skin color". The surrounding tissue is not at risk.
The heat generated by the flash of light also tones and ensures more skin firmness and the
stretch marks are smoothed simultaneously. The deeper scarred strips are only improved but cannot be completely
removed. There may be slight redness or swelling in the area after treatment. These are normal and will disappear
after about twelve to twenty-four hours.
How many treatment sessions are necessary?
Three to ten treatments every three weeks are require, depending on the severity of the stretch
marks or striae.
What you should do after the treatment?
Sun exposure is to be avoided two or three weeks before and after treatment for pregnancy
stretch marks.
