How to slow aging

Young people often act as if aging does not affect them. Therefore, they do nothing to counter it. It is a grave mistake. In contrast, middle-aged people are beginning to realize that aging could ultimately affect them.

They do nothing, however, to delay it. In many cases, they give the impression that they are waiting for the problem to arise. Again, this is a serious mistake to do so. Only when people are affected by the first signs of aging do they open their eyes and realize they should do something to limit the damage.

This belated recognition is still desirable because it is still possible address many actions that can limit and even slow aging. The aim of this paper is to examine the issue of dietary supplements and how they relate to aging and to determine what supplements can truly fight aging and help keep you young, despite the fact that we all age.

Image of How to Slow Aging.Beta-carotene belongs to the carotenoid family. It is a pigment found in plants with orange pulp. Carrots, apricots, peaches, cantaloupe, mango, pumpkin and sweet potato contain goodly amounts. It is also found in most green vegetables. In the case of these vegetables, the orange pigment is masked by the green pigment chlorophyll.

Beta-carotene also acts as a powerful antioxidant in the body. It helps to neutralize free radicals, a major cause of premature aging and degeneration of several tissues of the body. We can take 50,000 IU per day of beta carotene.

Vitamin E is another antioxidant. You need significant quantities of it to neutralize the harmful effects of free radicals. Given the many sources of pollution and their relationship with free radicals, vitamin E is needed in much greater amounts than officially recommended. It is estimated that, in official circles, that the body needs a dozen international units of vitamin E per day. This amount is based on the fact that foods contain some vitamin E and, but not enough for the actual needs of the body. Thus, supplementation of Vitamin E is essential.

Vitamin C is another very important vitamin. Its main role is to ensure the formation of collagen, an important constituent of connective tissue. This vitamin is also useful to help people better withstand stress, to invigorate the immune system to better defend against infections, to prevent certain types of cancer and to fight against premature aging. On this last point, it is the antioxidant properties of Vitamin C that are involved. It can take 500 to 1000 mg of Vitamin C per day.

Selenium is a trace element involved in the body’s fight against free radicals. It is part of an antioxidant enzyme, glutathione peroxidase. Several studies show that antioxidants play a role in cancer prevention. It seems that this is also the case of selenium. The presence of selenium in the soil gives plants naturally rich precious trace elements. It may take a dose of 50 mcg per day to help the body.

With plants, ginkgo biloba is very useful to promote blood circulation in all parts of the body including the brain. This plant is recommended to correct disorders of the nervous system, particularly memory impairment.

B complex vitamins are also involved in various ways in the fight against premature aging. They include the ability to protect the cardiovascular system against a high accumulation of homocysteine, a substance harmful to the arteries that can lead to atherosclerosis.

When the body has sufficient amounts of vitamin B6, folic acid and vitamin B12, the amount of homocysteine is reduced and the body has better protection against cardiovascular disorders.

Calcium and vitamin D also plays an important role in the fight against aging. This mineral helps maintain strong bones, thereby preventing osteoporosis. Vitamin D, in turn, allows better utilization of calcium by the body, while promoting the establishment of this mineral in bone. A good supplement of calcium and magnesium (the latter helps boost calcium absorption), with vitamin D and zinc (this trace element is involved in another antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase), is part of a supplement to to fight against premature aging.

To ensure proper functioning of the nervous system, a supplement of lecithin safflower oil is needed. Lecithin is a substance essential for the proper functioning of the brain and nerves. It occupies an important place in the formation of these tissues.
